Takeda’s $2.37 Billion Actos Settlement goes through, says Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, announced today that Takeda Pharmaceutical Co.'s $2.37 billion settlement over their diabetes drug Actos is going through and moving forward. Actos drug maker, Takeda, agreed to toss in another $100 million if enough claimants signed up with matching settlement criteria – 97% of the claims to be exact. There are approximately 10K lawsuits against them of claims that Actos causes cancer, and now that enough claimants are on board and participating in the settlement offer, the $2.37 billion settlement is moving forward. The high settlement would result in average awards of more than $296,000 per case for plaintiffs who participated the settlement, however, settlement awards may be reduced depending on certain factors such as age, smoking history, and toxin exposure. Despite the settlement, Takeda stands behind their diabetes drug Actos.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent update in the Actos settlement, "We are pleased to see that the settlement is now moving forward. The light at the end of the tunnel for so many Actos plaintiffs and their families is now visible. However, there still remains a long process to finally get their funds. We don't anticipate payments until early 2016 in most cases. However, we are now able to offer the lowest rates on certain Actos cases for clients who need a portion of their money now."

Location Set for First Xarelto Bellwether Trial, Says Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, announced today that the location has been set for the first Xarelto bellwether trial, which could take place as early as August of 2016. The Xarelto bellwether trials will take place in the Eastern District of Louisiana before U.S. District Judge Eldon Fallon. This information is according to Digital Journal, as well as the fact that as of now, approximately 550 cases have been filed in the federal Xarelto multidistrict litigation (MDL 2592), alleging that Xarelto caused bleeding problems for many individuals. The judge overhearing these cases has recommended that an initial 50 cases be selected for the bellwether trials. The first two bellwether trials will take place in the Eastern District of Louisiana. The third case will be heard in the South District of Texas, and finally, the fourth will take place in the Southern District of Mississippi.

Lawsuits against Bayer and Johnson & Johnson's subsidiary, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, include claims of serious health problems and even death as a result of uncontrollable bleeding events. There is no known antidote at this time, according to experts. MTS encourages anyone who is looking for lawsuit funding on their Xarelto case, or anyone looking for assistance with finding a Xarelto law firm or lawyer, to contact the company immediately for assistance.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the update in the Xarelto MDL, "We are pleased that a bellwether trial date is less than a year away and that the Xarelto litigation will begin the most important phase of gauging public sentiment as to the drug's danger or safety. Unfortunately, this is really only the start of the litigation and any plaintiffs who were successful would still need to wait a long time to receive any funds from an actual settlement."

MTS is prepared to help those who need lawsuit help with finding a qualified Xarelto law firm or Xarelto lawyer to provide a free evaluation on their specific bleeding case. Actos Lawsuit Settlement News: Takeda’s $2.37 Billion Settlement Endangerment Puts Actos Resolution at Risk, says Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, announced today that Takeda Pharmaceutical Co.'s $2.37 billion settlement didn't attract enough claimants to participate in the deal, which said the company would fund the deal after 95% of claimants joined it. However, by the deadline last week, only approximately 75% had signed up, according to Bloomberg News, leading to doubts about whether or not the deal would ultimately survive. The deadline has now been pushed to September 11th for claimants to sign up for the settlement offer. The $2.37 billion settlement would result in settlement awards of more than $296,000 per case for plaintiffs who choose to participate in the settlement, but settlement amounts may be reduced depending on certain factors such as age, smoking history, and toxin exposure. Despite the settlement offer, Takeda denies Actos risks, and they are hoping to settle approximately 10K lawsuits against them of claims that Actos causes cancer.

The cases involved include approximately 3,500 lawsuits in Lafayette, Louisiana before U.S. District Judge Rebecca Doherty (In Re: Actos (Pioglitazone) Products Liability Litigation, 11-md-02299, U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana), and about 4,500 suits in California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and West Virginia. Also according to Bloomberg, there are more cases "being held in abeyance while lawyers decide whether to add them to the settlement."

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent news in the Actos settlement, "This is disappointing news for many Actos patients and their families who are in need of getting their settlement check this year. It now seems, at a minimum, that the settlement will be delayed and most payments will not be made until 2016."

Transvaginal Mesh Settlement News: C.R. Bard Settles for More than $200MM, says Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, reports today that C.R. Bard Inc. has recently settled at least 3,000 cases against them, agreeing to pay more than $200 million to the women plaintiffs who were injured by the company's vaginal-mesh inserts. According to Bloomberg News, the settlement resolves about "a fifth of the outstanding suits related to the implants, which bolster sagging organs and treat incontinence." The high settlement will result in awards of approximately $67,000 per case. Also according to Bloomberg, in court filings, Bard says, "its devices are safe and effective." The ongoing transvaginal mesh multidistrict litigation is under U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin in Charleston, West Virginia, and C.R. Bard is just one of the mesh manufacturers involved (In re: C.R. Bard Inc. Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation, 10-md-02187, U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia (Charleston).

Chris Janish, CEO of Legal-Bay, commented on the recent settlement, "It seems that Bard has stepped up with a reasonable settlement offer for the average transvaginal mesh case. However, as we have seen the criteria for other manufacturers, like AMS, the actual settlement amounts can be tough to determine. With many settlements now announced, the time is running out to file a claim."

MTS, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company, is able to assist plaintiffs who need lawsuit money, surgical funding, or lawsuit help with finding a qualified transvaginal mesh law firm or transvaginal mesh lawyer to provide a free evaluation on their specific case. To learn more about MTS' services involving TVM litigations, please visit: https://www.lawsuitsettlementnews.com/transvaginal-mesh-lawsuits

Lawsuit Settlement News urges any women who are having complications with any of the transvaginal mesh products or bladder or pelvic slings that were implanted in the last five years to seek immediate legal consultation to determine if they may have a potential claimand are eligible for compensation. Time may be limited to do so as more manufacturers settle the claims against them. Settlements and jury verdicts in other cases with serious side effects and multiple revision surgeries have netted some plaintiffs settlements in the $500K range. In order to obtain compensation, you must file a timely lawsuit with the assistance of a mesh law firm.

If you, or a loved one, have been injured by a transvaginal mesh device and need lawsuit money or lawsuit help, including finding a TVM law firm, obtaining up to $30K in pre-settlement lawsuit funding, or obtaining surgical funding if you don't currently have insurance, call 877.571.0405.

New Xarelto Studies Show Link to Eye Hemorrhaging and Stomach Bleeding, Says Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

NEW ORLEANS, July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, announced today that two new studies have shown a link between Xarelto and stomach bleeds and eye hemorrhaging. Johnson & Johnson's blood thinner has been linked to uncontrollable bleeding events in the past, and now, according to Drug Watch, new data has emerged that Xarelto increases the risk of stomach bleeding and eye hemorrhaging. While the two new studies are concerning, because these are two newfound side effects of the blood thinner, the main concern is still uncontrollable bleeding events that lead to death. It has yet to be determined if lawsuit claims will develop based on the new report. A similar blood thinner drug, Pradaxa, settled 4K claims involving uncontrollable bleeding events for approximately $160K per case.

According to court documents, there are currently more than 300 lawsuits filed over Xarelto in the federal litigation in Louisiana, with an additional approximate 160 cases as of now with similar claims pending in Pennsylvania's mass tort proceeding. Lawsuits against Bayer and Johnson & Johnson's subsidiary, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, include claims of serious health problems and even death as a result of uncontrollable bleeding events. There is no known antidote at this time, according to experts. The federal multidistrict litigation (MDL) is being overseen in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Louisiana (In Re: Xarelto Products Liability Litigation, No. 2592).

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent studies linking Xarelto to stomach bleeds and eye hemorrhaging, "Clearly this new report comes at a tough time for J&J's Xarelto blood thinning drug as they continue to fight hundreds of uncontrollable bleeding claims, which continue to rise monthly. The litigation is expected to be a lengthy one and could be a two pronged fight for J&J if additional claims arise based on the new data."

Takeda officials announced that they will put the money into a settlement fund if 95% of plaintiffs agree to participate in the settlement; and if 97% of the plaintiffs sign up, the drug maker would add an additional $300 million, raising the settlement to $2.4 billion, according to Bloomberg News. Settlement awards would be more than $296,000 per case for plaintiffs who choose to participate in the settlement, but settlement amounts may be reduced depending on certain factors suchas age, smoking history, and toxin exposure.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent Actos settlement, "It is great to see that a litigation over a drug that has produced serious side effects such as bladder cancer is starting to come to a final resolution. Although many patients and their family members will never be the same, a settlement of this size speaks volumes on many levels. Takeda is trying to move forward and also stop new lawsuit claims from coming in, however, possible victims of bladder cancer from Actos should not be deterred and should seek counsel before it is too late to claim their potential award like the rest of the plaintiffs."

Zimmer Inc. had issued voluntary recalls for its metal-on-metal hip device – the Durom Cup, in 2008 – and another recall for the NexGen MIS Tibial Components in 2010. Lawsuit Help Center Reports $100MM Verdict against Boston Scientific

June 24, 2015 /prReach/ -- Lawsuitsettlementnews.com reports that the $100 million verdict for a Delaware woman against Boston Scientific Corporation was the first verdict against the company since they agreed to pay $119 million to resolve approximately 3,000 cases over their transvaginal mesh devices.

MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, reports today that Boston Scientific Corporation was ordered to pay $100 million to a Delaware woman in the first verdict against them since the company agreed to pay $119 million to settle approximately 3,000 cases over their transvaginal mesh products. This latest verdict was the largest yet. The woman plaintiff claimed the vaginal mesh inserts eroded in her body after being implanted, leaving her in constant pain and unable to have sexual intercourse. The high $100MM verdict came just after Boston Scientific agreed to settle about 3,000 cases for $119 million. According to Bloomberg News, a state court jury in Delaware found that Boston Scientific's Pinnacle and Advantage Fit inserts were defectively designed, and that executives in the company hid the flaws from the patient. Additionally, according to Bloomberg, the jurors also found Boston Scientific engaged in fraud due to their failure in alerting doctors of the faulty devices' design.

According to an article in Reuters, Boston Scientific still faces over 25,000 mesh claims in federal and state courts throughout the U.S. Thousands of claims against Boston Scientific are still pending, and they've been consolidated into multidistrict litigation (MDL) under U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin in the Southern District of West Virginia (Boston Scientific MDL 2326).

Lawsuit Settlement News urges women who are having complications with any of the transvaginal mesh products or bladder or pelvic slings that were implanted in the last five years to seek immediate legal consultation to determine if they may have a potential claim and are eligible for compensation. Time may be limited to do so as more manufacturers settle the claims against them. Settlements and jury verdicts in other cases with serious side effects and multiple revision surgeries have netted some plaintiffs settlements in the $500K range. In order to obtain compensation, plaintiffs must file a timely lawsuit with the assistance of a mesh law firm.

Those who have been injured by a transvaginal mesh device and need lawsuit money or lawsuit help, including finding a TVM law firm, obtaining up to $30K in pre-settlement lawsuit funding, or obtaining surgical funding for those currently without insurance, call 877.571.0405.

FDA Says Onglyza Label Should Include Heart Failure Risk, Reports Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

JERSEY CITY, N.J., June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, announced today that the Type 2 diabetes medication, Onglyza, is linked to an increase in possible heart failure, in which the FDA panel has requested a warning on its label. Onglyza has already been the target of potential side effects of lawsuits involving risks of pancreatitis as well as possible cancer. Onglyza was designed to help people with Type 2 diabetes (who do not suffer from diabetic ketoacidosis) by helping controlling high blood sugar. Onglyza effectively controls blood sugar, and unlike other diabetes medications, the drug does not encourage weight gain. Despite the positive effects of Onglyza, some doctors are concerned over reports of the possibility of increased risk of pancreatitis and cancer (pancreatic and thyroid cancer). Currently, there are hundreds of filed lawsuits from people who have developed pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer, alleging that the company failed to warn patients of the risks associated with the drug. There has also been a SAVOR study involving about 16K patients, with results that show that there was a 27% difference in heart failure hospitalizations between the Onglyza group and the control group. The FDA panel voted in favor of adding the information about the risk of heart failure to the label, however, they are not pulling it from the market at this time. Experts now expect patients who have been hospitalized, or family members who have died of heart failure, will begin to pursue lawsuits against Onglyza's manufacturer, AstraZeneca, now that the FDA label has been mandated.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent reports and concerns over Onglyza, "It is disappointing that the new data shows a serious side effect in patients taking Onglyza and possible heart failure. We have seen this before with other blockbuster drugs, and we remain here to assist patients, or their family members, who have been linked to heart issues at the taking of Onglyza. The lawyers in our network are at the forefront of the Onglyza litigation, and can provide patients and their families with a free case evaluation."

Major Hip Settlements Reported by Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

ATLANTA, May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, reports today the most up-to-date news on major hip settlements by several manufacturers, including Stryker, DePuy, Wright, and BioMet. Several high settlements have been reached, however, certain litigations are still dragging on and waiting for a resolution.

  • Stryker Corporation: Stryker Corporation has agreed to pay $1.43 billion to settle thousands of hip implant lawsuits filed against them. The settlement was announced November 3rd, 2014, both in the Bergen County courthouse before Superior Court Judge Brian Martinotti and in the U.S. District Court in St. Paul, Minnesota (Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441). Settlement awards are expected to be in amounts of $10K to $600K, depending on the severity of the complications.
  • Biomet: Biomet reached a $56 million settlement in February of 2014 relating to its BioMet M2a 38 or M2a Magnum hip replacement system. Settlement awards averaged approximately $200K per case that involved revision surgery. The multidistrict litigation took place in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana (MDL No. 2391).
  • Johnson & Johnson/DePuy ASR and Pinnacle Hips: In late 2013, Johnson & Johnson's DePuy hip division reached the largest product liability lawsuit settlement in U.S. history. The company agreed to settle approximately 7K hip lawsuits at about $250K per case. The cases were consolidated into multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio under Judge David A. Katz (MDL No. 2197). According to Bloomberg News, when all is said and done in the ASR litigation, it could cost DePuy close to $4 billion. However, there are still approximately 25% of pending cases, allowing time for more ASR claims to be filed. Pinnacle hip cases remain unresolved, and there are more than 6,500 claims pending in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas under Judge Ed Kinkeade (DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. Pinnacle Hip Implant Product Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2244). Bellwether trials will be taking place this year.

Wright Medical Technology, Inc.: Approximately 800 claims had already been filed by2014 relating to Wright Medical Technology, Inc.'s Conserve and Profemur hip replacements. According to Drug Watch, more than 70 cases were pending in a multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Georgia (MDL No. 2329). Bellwether trials are set to begin in 2015.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent settlements, "As more and more of the metal-on-metal hip manufacturers have settled their cases, the time to file a claim becomes much shorter for the injured party. We are urging any possible plaintiffs who think they may have a claim not to wait any longer to contact us so that we can put you in touch with a top hip recall lawyer to freely evaluate your case. If you wait too long, it is possible that your claim will not be allowed, or time barred."

MTS is ready to assist potential plaintiffs who need lawsuit help with finding a qualified hip law firm or hip recall lawyer to provide a free evaluation on their specific case. Patients who have had an implant of a metal-on-metal hip and have been experiencing pain, high chromium and cobalt levels (known as metallosis), and/or need a revision surgery could be in-line to receive up to $250-300K in compensation or more. Settlement awards would be more than $296,000 per case for plaintiffs who choose to participate in the settlement, but settlement amounts may be reduced depending on certain factors such as age, smoking history, and toxin exposure.

Takeda is trying to move forward and also stop new lawsuit claims from coming in, however, possible victims of bladder cancer from Actos should not be deterred and should seek counselbefore it is too late to claim their potential award like the rest of the plaintiffs."
