Lawsuit Help Center Reports $100MM Verdict against Boston Scientific

June 24, 2015 /prReach/ -- Lawsuitsettlementnews.com reports that the $100 million verdict for a Delaware woman against Boston Scientific Corporation was the first verdict against the company since they agreed to pay $119 million to resolve approximately 3,000 cases over their transvaginal mesh devices.

MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, reports today that Boston Scientific Corporation was ordered to pay $100 million to a Delaware woman in the first verdict against them since the company agreed to pay $119 million to settle approximately 3,000 cases over their transvaginal mesh products. This latest verdict was the largest yet. The woman plaintiff claimed the vaginal mesh inserts eroded in her body after being implanted, leaving her in constant pain and unable to have sexual intercourse. The high $100MM verdict came just after Boston Scientific agreed to settle about 3,000 cases for $119 million. According to Bloomberg News, a state court jury in Delaware found that Boston Scientific's Pinnacle and Advantage Fit inserts were defectively designed, and that executives in the company hid the flaws from the patient. Additionally, according to Bloomberg, the jurors also found Boston Scientific engaged in fraud due to their failure in alerting doctors of the faulty devices' design.

According to an article in Reuters, Boston Scientific still faces over 25,000 mesh claims in federal and state courts throughout the U.S. Thousands of claims against Boston Scientific are still pending, and they've been consolidated into multidistrict litigation (MDL) under U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin in the Southern District of West Virginia (Boston Scientific MDL 2326).

MTS, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company, is able to assist plaintiffs who need lawsuit money, surgical funding, or lawsuit help with finding a qualified transvaginal mesh law firm or transvaginal mesh lawyer to provide a free evaluation on their specific case. Lawsuit Settlement News urges women who are having complications with any of the transvaginal mesh products or bladder or pelvic slings that were implanted in the last five years to seek immediate legal consultation to determine if they may have a potential claim and are eligible for compensation. Time may be limited to do so as more manufacturers settle the claims against them. Settlements and jury verdicts in other cases with serious side effects and multiple revision surgeries have netted some plaintiffs settlements in the $500K range. In order to obtain compensation, plaintiffs must file a timely lawsuit with the assistance of a mesh law firm.

Those who have been injured by a transvaginal mesh device and need lawsuit money or lawsuit help, including finding a TVM law firm, obtaining up to $30K in pre-settlement lawsuit funding, or obtaining surgical funding for those currently without insurance, call 877.571.0405.

Plaintiffs may also fill out a quick application online at: www.lawsuitsettlementnews.com and an agent will respond shortly.

FDA Says Onglyza Label Should Include Heart Failure Risk, Reports Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

JERSEY CITY, N.J., June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, announced today that the Type 2 diabetes medication, Onglyza, is linked to an increase in possible heart failure, in which the FDA panel has requested a warning on its label. Onglyza has already been the target of potential side effects of lawsuits involving risks of pancreatitis as well as possible cancer. Onglyza was designed to help people with Type 2 diabetes (who do not suffer from diabetic ketoacidosis) by helping controlling high blood sugar. Onglyza effectively controls blood sugar, and unlike other diabetes medications, the drug does not encourage weight gain. Despite the positive effects of Onglyza, some doctors are concerned over reports of the possibility of increased risk of pancreatitis and cancer (pancreatic and thyroid cancer). Currently, there are hundreds of filed lawsuits from people who have developed pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer, alleging that the company failed to warn patients of the risks associated with the drug. There has also been a SAVOR study involving about 16K patients, with results that show that there was a 27% difference in heart failure hospitalizations between the Onglyza group and the control group. The FDA panel voted in favor of adding the information about the risk of heart failure to the label, however, they are not pulling it from the market at this time. Experts now expect patients who have been hospitalized, or family members who have died of heart failure, will begin to pursue lawsuits against Onglyza's manufacturer, AstraZeneca, now that the FDA label has been mandated.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent reports and concerns over Onglyza, "It is disappointing that the new data shows a serious side effect in patients taking Onglyza and possible heart failure. We have seen this before with other blockbuster drugs, and we remain here to assist patients, or their family members, who have been linked to heart issues at the taking of Onglyza. The lawyers in our network are at the forefront of the Onglyza litigation, and can provide patients and their families with a free case evaluation."

Major Hip Settlements Reported by Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

ATLANTA, May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, reports today the most up-to-date news on major hip settlements by several manufacturers, including Stryker, DePuy, Wright, and BioMet. Several high settlements have been reached, however, certain litigations are still dragging on and waiting for a resolution.

  • Stryker Corporation: Stryker Corporation has agreed to pay $1.43 billion to settle thousands of hip implant lawsuits filed against them. The settlement was announced November 3rd, 2014, both in the Bergen County courthouse before Superior Court Judge Brian Martinotti and in the U.S. District Court in St. Paul, Minnesota (Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441). Settlement awards are expected to be in amounts of $10K to $600K, depending on the severity of the complications.
  • Biomet: Biomet reached a $56 million settlement in February of 2014 relating to its BioMet M2a 38 or M2a Magnum hip replacement system. Settlement awards averaged approximately $200K per case that involved revision surgery. The multidistrict litigation took place in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana (MDL No. 2391).
  • Johnson & Johnson/DePuy ASR and Pinnacle Hips: In late 2013, Johnson & Johnson's DePuy hip division reached the largest product liability lawsuit settlement in U.S. history. The company agreed to settle approximately 7K hip lawsuits at about $250K per case. The cases were consolidated into multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio under Judge David A. Katz (MDL No. 2197). According to Bloomberg News, when all is said and done in the ASR litigation, it could cost DePuy close to $4 billion. However, there are still approximately 25% of pending cases, allowing time for more ASR claims to be filed. Pinnacle hip cases remain unresolved, and there are more than 6,500 claims pending in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas under Judge Ed Kinkeade (DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. Pinnacle Hip Implant Product Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2244). Bellwether trials will be taking place this year.

Wright Medical Technology, Inc.: Approximately 800 claims had already been filed by2014 relating to Wright Medical Technology, Inc.'s Conserve and Profemur hip replacements. According to Drug Watch, more than 70 cases were pending in a multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Georgia (MDL No. 2329). Bellwether trials are set to begin in 2015.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent settlements, "As more and more of the metal-on-metal hip manufacturers have settled their cases, the time to file a claim becomes much shorter for the injured party. We are urging any possible plaintiffs who think they may have a claim not to wait any longer to contact us so that we can put you in touch with a top hip recall lawyer to freely evaluate your case. If you wait too long, it is possible that your claim will not be allowed, or time barred."

MTS is ready to assist potential plaintiffs who need lawsuit help with finding a qualified hip law firm or hip recall lawyer to provide a free evaluation on their specific case. Patients who have had an implant of a metal-on-metal hip and have been experiencing pain, high chromium and cobalt levels (known as metallosis), and/or need a revision surgery could be in-line to receive up to $250-300K in compensation or more. To learn more about MTS' services involving the Stryker hip litigation or other hip litigations, including DePuy, Pinnacle, Wright Profemur or Conserve hip implants, or Biomet hips, please visit: https://www.lawsuitsettlementnews.com/hip-implant-lawsuits

If you already have an attorney and have filed a hip lawsuit and need a law cash advance, not to be confused with a lawsuit loan or pre-settlement loan, Lawsuit Settlement News is here to assist you. Injured parties from hip implant device complications can apply for up to $50K in pre-settlement or settlement lawsuit funding. Takeda officials announced that they will put the money into a settlement fund if 95% of plaintiffs agree to participate in the settlement; and if 97% of the plaintiffs sign up, the drug maker would add an additional $300 million, raising the settlement to $2.4 billion, according to Bloomberg News. Settlement awards would be more than $296,000 per case for plaintiffs who choose to participate in the settlement, but settlement amounts may be reduced depending on certain factors such as age, smoking history, and toxin exposure.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the recent Actos settlement, "It is great to see that a litigation over a drug that has produced serious side effects such as bladder cancer is starting to come to a final resolution. Although many patients and their family members will never be the same, a settlement of this size speaks volumes on many levels. Takeda is trying to move forward and also stop new lawsuit claims from coming in, however, possible victims of bladder cancer from Actos should not be deterred and should seek counselbefore it is too late to claim their potential award like the rest of the plaintiffs."

Transvaginal Mesh Settlement News: Boston Scientific Reaches First TVM Settlement, Says Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

PHILADELPHIA, May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, reports today that Boston Scientific Corporation has agreed to pay about $119 million to settle approximately 2,970 cases over its transvaginal mesh products. According to Reuters, Boston Scientific Corp. said the company will put settlement funds into an escrow account by October 1st, and it will also establish a process for claimants to participate in the settlement. However, Boston Scientific Corporation contests liability or any wrongdoing despite its agreement to pay the settlement. Also according to the article in Reuters, Boston Scientific still faces over 25,000 mesh claims in federal and state courts throughout the U.S.

Thousands of claims against Boston Scientific are still pending, and they've been consolidated into multidistrict litigation (MDL) under U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin in the Southern District of West Virginia (Boston Scientific MDL 2326).

Chris Janish, CEO of Legal-Bay, commented on the recent settlement, "The time is winding down for possible victims of transvaginal mesh injuries to file claims. The judge is trying to resolve all the existing claims as quickly as possible, and once the majority of settlements are announced it will be much harder to file a claim. Today's announcement is important not only for existing claims, but puts notice to patients who have not yet filed claims to do so immediately if they have had injuries which required a revision surgery, or if they are still in need of a revision surgery."
