Transvaginal Mesh Settlement News: C.R. Bard Settles for More than $200MM, says Lawsuitsettlementnews.com

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates lawsuitsettlementnews.com, reports today that C.R. Bard Inc. has recently settled at least 3,000 cases against them, agreeing to pay more than $200 million to the women plaintiffs who were injured by the company's vaginal-mesh inserts. According to Bloomberg News, the settlement resolves about "a fifth of the outstanding suits related to the implants, which bolster sagging organs and treat incontinence." The high settlement will result in awards of approximately $67,000 per case. Also according to Bloomberg, in court filings, Bard says, "its devices are safe and effective." The ongoing transvaginal mesh multidistrict litigation is under U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin in Charleston, West Virginia, and C.R. Bard is just one of the mesh manufacturers involved (In re: C.R. Bard Inc. Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation, 10-md-02187, U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia (Charleston).

Chris Janish, CEO of Legal-Bay, commented on the recent settlement, "It seems that Bard has stepped up with a reasonable settlement offer for the average transvaginal mesh case. However, as we have seen the criteria for other manufacturers, like AMS, the actual settlement amounts can be tough to determine. With many settlements now announced, the time is running out to file a claim."
